Annie was near the front of the team but seemed to be the only dog smart enough to try to get away from the porcupine. She got several quills in her wrists but was otherwise in the best shape of anyone at the front of the team. Because Belle was hit so badly and wasn’t able to focus on running, I switched Annie to the front and once again relied on her to carry us home. That is one hell of a dog. She brought us all back to safety, again. Good girl Annie.
We removed her quills at home and then had her checked at the vet that week, where she was pronounced clear.
