CB300: Checkpoint 3: Meier’s Lake

Meier's Lake

Will and the team have reached Meier's Lake! This checkpoint is a roadhouse and museum located on the aforementioned lake! Meier's Lake Roadhouse has 4.4 stars on Google so check it out sometime! Will plans to rest here for 6 1/2 hours-- But as we all know, in a race, sometimes the homemade baked goods will get the better of the team! It sounds like the team <update as conveyed from handler: eg, "is tired but happy" or "had a great run over and is resting well" or "has morphed into a string of demons and plan to haunt you all.">

Fun Facts!

Last year, the team spent 9 total hours here. This included their 6 hour mandatory rest... Plus a few extra "snoozes!" As a puppy team, the dogs needed a lot of good rest! This was a good place to fulfill the mandatory rest AND the start differential.
The differential is time added depending on when you left the starting point in order to even out how long everyone was on the trail.

The next leg of the trip is going to be a long one! Don't be surprised if you don't get an update for a while!

What's next?

The next checkpoint is Chistochina, 68 miles away! This run includes "The Summit," a 4,000 foot climb. That obstacle can make this the longest run, time wise, of the race. There is also a small chance Will may opt to camp partway through this run to give the dogs an extra boost.
