Your Buddy Ophelia and the Quills
A brief update about how your friend did in our quill encounter

You probably heard we ran into a porcupine last week. Here's the story:

How did Ophelia do?
Ophelia was running lead on the left side of the team when they ran into the porcupine. I didn’t see the incident happen, because it was around a corner, so I’m not exactly sure what transpired in the split seconds before I came into view. What I saw was Ophelia jumping up and down on something and coming back up with a face of quills. Ophelia was one of the worst hit. She was definitely trying to bite back and that wasn’t working out very well. Ophelia got quills in her front wrists, one back leg, and her face and mouth. She became one of the five dogs to go to the ER vet. Later that week, she also had a surgery to pursue a quill in her wrist, where she now has staples.

She was initially limping very pronouncedly, but now is at least walking easily. I have high hopes she’ll be back for the season, but we’ll have to see how things go. She has a bit more healing to do until we know for sure.

Ophelia is on antibiotics and pain killers, and is going to the vet for a follow up tomorrow morning.
